
The Russian assembled cars are about to be equipped with the dual-standart receivers GLONASS/GPS on the assembly belt – said the administrative chief of the “GLONASS / GNSS – Forum” firm, Vladimir Klimov, giving an interview the Izvestia newspaper. According to him, within the ERA GLONASS program, each car will be fixed with the device, “which if it is essential in case of accident, it will send a call or a voice message in the center of traffic.
“Thus, the accidents and their exact locations would be registered, and the subsequent troubles with traffic, too. And, of course, this information will help to respond on the situation, providing the assistance,” –said Klimov.
Saying about the project ERA GLONASS, he noted that “there will begin to operate the analogous system which is founded on GPS / Galileo in Europe in 2012”. “Here it is also said about a dual-standart receiver – GLONASS / GPS. It is planned that the cars which will be in Russia, that they are equipped with these gadgets on the assembly belt “-said he.
Answering to the question about the competition of the GPS from America and the Russian-developed system, Vladimir Klimov said: “SBS had systematically been developing about 20 years, but the Russian system – only 8 years.” “But at the hardware level we are already approaching to the GPS – about the sizes of receivers, the power and the color characteristics. And soon the Western companies will make the dual equipment GLONASS / GPS,” – concluded he.
